A series of workshops and presentations designed to help you succeed in your business as a liquor licensee. Offered in conjunction with The Michigan Licensed Beverage Association and: The Michigan Liquor Control Commission The Office of Highway Safety Planning The Michigan Department of Agriculture, Food & Dairy Division The Michigan Lottery Bureau BMI DISCUS RESPONSIBILITY. As an owner/manager, it is important for you to be educated in responsible serving & ID checking techniques, health sanitation issues and to be knowledgeable of Michigan Liquor Control Code rules & regulations. The New Licensee Seminar is specifically tailored to your business and was developed to help you be successful for years to come. The Importance of Education The New Licensee Seminar offers two seminars: one designed for off-premise licensees and one designed for on-premise licensees. As a new licensee, it is crucial for you to be knowledgeable of the issues relating to your business. A major challenge to running a successful business as an alcohol licensee is employing responsible employees. One way to ensure that your employees know how to serve alcohol responsibly is to have them attend an alcohol management seminar, such as the Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM)®. Presentations Server Training This workshop will teach you about issues such as your legal responsibilities as a licensee, clinical effects of alcohol, checking identification and handling disturbances. Health & Sanitation You will hear an overview on health and sanitation issues involving your establishment. Also, learn the top 10 health code violations and how you can prevent them in your establishment. Michigan Liquor Control Commission One of the most integral portions of succeeding in your business is understanding alcohol rules and regulations. The MLCC will teach you age requirements to serve, how to make a diligent inquiry, hours of operation limitations and how to prevent common violations from occurring. Working with Local Police Presented in conjunction with the Office of Highway Safety Planning, this portion of the program focuses on building relations with your community police and incorporating programs such as the Spotlight Program with your establishment. Music Licensing Laws How do music copyright laws affect your business? You will learn about the importance of licensing your establishment. Michigan Lottery Bureau The Michigan Lottery Bureau will explain the perks of selling lottery tickets in your establishment. You will also learn about how to keep up-to-date on lottery sales trends.
